How a Kitchen Makeover Works

Yes. Every single door and drawer front is custom-made to fit your existing cupboards — not cut from off-the-shelf sizes. So unusual dimensions, older kitchens, bespoke units or odd awkward cupboards are all fine. Worktops are the same: Darren measures and cuts them on site to follow your walls exactly, even if the walls aren't perfectly straight. This is one of the biggest differences between us and B&Q or IKEA-style replacements — nothing has to fit a "standard" size.

Not much. For doors-only jobs, very little prep is needed beyond clearing the worktop surface so Darren can work comfortably. For worktop jobs, you'll need to empty the base cupboards underneath the worktops, and clear the worktop surface itself. Darren handles all the skilled disconnects himself — built-in sinks, taps, electric hobs and ovens. You'll get a clear checklist at the home visit.

Honestly, there's some — we're cutting on site all day, so a bit of dust is unavoidable. But we work with dust sheets down from the moment Darren arrives, and everything is hoovered, wiped and cleaned before the final walkthrough. Old doors, offcuts and packaging all leave with Darren.

For doors-only makeovers — yes, usually back to normal within a few hours. For jobs with new worktops (which take 2-3 days), we always make sure you have working water restored before we pack up each evening, so you can still wash up and put the kettle on.

Darren handles all the skilled work himself — disconnecting and reconnecting your sink, taps, electric hob and built-in oven. For gas hobs, we bring in a Gas Safe engineer to handle the gas side (usually same day, so there's no extra delay). If you'd like to upgrade while we're there, we can supply and fit new sinks and taps too.

Honest answer: it's noisy throughout. Cutting happens on and off all day, so if you have important calls or need quiet, we'd recommend working from another room, a cafe, or booking the install for a day you're out. We'll never schedule over anything important if you flag it in advance.

Every skilled part — yes. Every door, every worktop, every handle, every disconnect. On bigger jobs he'll occasionally bring a labourer to help with heavy lifting (moving old worktops out, carrying materials in) — but nothing that touches your finished kitchen is sub-contracted.

You have a 2-year workmanship guarantee from Kitchen Faces, plus the full manufacturer warranty on the doors and worktops themselves. Darren personally handles any aftercare calls — no call centre, no fobbing off. Most of our business comes from neighbours and friends of previous customers, so we look after ours properly.

Yes — because every door is custom-made to your kitchen, we take 50% when the order is placed (after the measure-up), with the remaining 50% due on completion once you're happy with everything. Nothing is paid at the home visit.
